This new program will be set at the Ramsey House, behind Valmont building, near our existing school. This building
allows the use of a full kitchen, grassy fenced and safe yard, and proximity to the rest of the school and Rodney Bay area.
The primary sector will open as the rest of the school has historically opened - with a small class, personal attention,
and multi grade teaching. As the numbers increase, the classes will become separate.
This program will
also be governed by the same criteria - teachers will have a university degree and teaching degree; a strong understanding
of child development so that gentle learning discipline can be in place. Fun, motivation, activity and hands-on
involvement will mix with structured literacy and mathematics; specifically taught social skills, and the arts, P.E. and French
language. See the curriculum at:
http://www.edu.gov.on.ca . The K - 3 program will be based on the Ontario, Canada model, with reference to St. Lucia and a global perspective.
The
cost for this program is identical with all grades from K - 10 since qualified teachers, current materials, and high expectations
are maintained at all grade levels.
A $5000 materials fee is charged one time only when a child enters the school.
This fee covers all texts and materials for the whole time a child is in the school - to grade 12 graduation.
Please
spread the word to those parents who are interested in this style of education and what it offers to young children.
A special workshop, geared to those parents interested in our reading program, math maniplutives and have questions for us,
is being organized for the last week of March. More to come!
